Bio: Annie O’Rouke

What brought you here to Sanctuary Aus?

I initially joined Sanctuary Aus during my student placement as part of my Masters of Counselling degree. When Kim offered me a permanent role, I was thrilled as I feel deeply aligned with the organisation’s mission to provide essential services to children and families in need, and I am passionate about contributing to a safe and supportive community where families can heal, grow, and thrive.

What keeps you here at SA?

What do you like about your role?

I am inspired by the incredible clients I have the privilege to work with, the diverse and meaningful challenges each day brings, and the collaborative and nurturing culture at Sanctuary Aus. It’s a place where both personal and professional growth thrive.

Your Previous Work

Before joining Sanctuary Aus, I held various roles within the Australian Public Service, focusing primarily on social policy, including disability policy. These experiences have provided me with a strong foundation in policy development and an understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals and communities.

Your previous study

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the Australian National University and am currently pursuing a Masters of Counselling at the University of Canberra, where I continue to expand my expertise in therapeutic practice.

I am passionate about supporting people through their journey of growth and transformation. The opportunity to play a part in positive changes in our clients' lives is what motivates me to continue my work here every day.
