What do you like about your role?
What I like about my role as a Behaviour Support Specialist at Sanctuary Aus is the ability to make a tangible difference in people's lives. I find great satisfaction in developing and implementing personalised strategies that help individuals overcome challenges and achieve their goals. The opportunity to collaborate with a passionate and skilled team, combined with the diversity of the work and the continuous learning it involves, makes my role both fulfilling and exciting.
Your Previous Work
I have been working in the disability sector for over a year now, where I started out on the floor as a disability support worker. I found a great sense of fulfillment and felt very rewarding to be able to contribute to people's lives in such a positive life changing way. Before that, I spent three years working in sporting niche retail, where my primary focus was helping people find the right gear and knowledge to accomplish their desired goals.
Your previous study
I came to Sanctuary Aus as it was my passion for making a positive impact in the lives of individuals through effective behaviour support strategies. Sanctuary Aus's commitment to creating inclusive and supportive environments aligns perfectly with my professional values and goals. The opportunity to work with a dedicated team to enhance the well-being and quality of life for those we support was a compelling reason for me to join this organisation.
I graduated from the University of Canberra in 2024 with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology with a major in Counselling. Working in disability since graduating, I have been able to expand my counselling skillset.
It is the rewarding experience of witnessing the positive changes in the lives of those we support. The collaboration and supportive work environment, along with the continuous opportunities for professional growth, make it an inspiring place to work. The shared commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere for both participants and staff solidifies my dedication to being a part of this exceptional organisation.
